You want to create designs that are usable, intuitive, simple and clean.

They have to be attractive with creative layouts, great colours, amazing typography and it needs to look great on any device.

But coming up with the layout and colours that catches the user's eye isn’t easy.

There’s an overwhelming amount of information and tools vying for you attention, so just keeping up with the latest in the design world is difficult enough. So much so, your imposter syndrome and design anxiety could be dialled up to 11.

This is where I can help.

Hi! I'm Tom Kenny and I've been designing for over 10 years, working with some great companies such as Dorling Kindersley, TUI Travel, Sky Sports, Haymarket and more.

I became interested in design when I started noticing and appreciating what great design was and how it could help people live better lives.

Just like my design work, I aim to keep my design writing as simple and easy to understand as possible.

Learn from the Best Designers

No, not me! There are many better designers than I will ever be, which is exactly why I learn from the best by analysing their work in detail. Then I share everything I learn with you. It makes me a better designer and it will make you a better designer too.

I wrote a whole book called Learn from Great Design where I do exactly that. It contains a number of detailed case studies of the best designs I come across. I show you exactly what makes them great. It’ll help you discover the reasons why the best designers make the decisions they do.

These words from Steve Jobs sums this up extremely well:

“Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn’t really do it. They just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while; that’s because they were able to connect experiences they’ve had and synthesize new things.”

I also study the best from industries and topics related to design such psychology and creativity to see what we can apply to our work as designers.
