They give you a precise navigation point and in turn open up the consumer to a wider range of products that maybe your menu structure could not of accommodated for. Three questions visitors should NEVER have to stop to ask themselves when browsing ANY page of your website are: 1) Where am I? 2) Where are the other pages? 3) How can I get home? The principles summarized in this post help to ensure that this doesn't happen... and if it does happen, the answers should be as obvious and/or easy to locate as possible.
